Nursing & Allied Health Program 2018
The Nursing & Allied Health Program continues to be a fantastic component of APCC. It provides an invaluable opportunity for all the prostate cancer allied health disciplines: nursing, continence physiotherapy, psycho-oncology and exercise physiology to network and learn from each other.
This year’s program features the following:
Managing patient’s post-treatment expectations, minimising decisional regret.
Topics will include sexual health recovery expectations, nursing preparation of patients for treatment and some long-term survivor quality of life data.
We will address current prostate cancer practices and how the future of prostate cancer care delivery might look in the future. The distinguished multidisciplinary team panel will again be held. There will be a session devoted to sexual function, ageing and prostate cancer, and we’ll explore how to develop nursing and allied health prostate cancer clinics to ensure your patients receive holistic care. Several disciplines will discuss some of the difficulties managing post-radiation complications, and we will also have a session looking at the management of patients with advanced prostate cancer.
For the first time this year, we will have a session providing a basic overview of clinical research and some research outcomes to help kick-start some new research for the future! And we will also look at the difficulties and solutions for providing care for men with prostate cancer who are living remotely. We have several fantastic workshops. Exercise physiology for all allied health, a sexual health workshop looking at easy communication about sexual matters and exploring what we mean by sexual recovery. And finally, we are offering the multi-disciplinary post-prostatectomy incontinence workshop again which was incredibly popular last year.
All in all, this is a very diverse program with something for everyone, from beginners through to advanced practitioners, and a fantastic opportunity to meet and mingle with old and new colleagues.
We look forward to seeing you there!
